ROJAK! The Play by The Oral Stage

If you are a fan of theatre and play then you would definitely love ROJAK! This is a PLAY created and directed by a group of energetic young peeples that I believe would stir up quite a scene in the local theatre! Dont Miss It! For more information on this play please click HERE! See you there!!!

What is ROJAK!?

ROJAK! is an original blend of shorts and monologues, tossed with a spoonful of youth and matters close to our hearts. From happy families, sudden deaths, sinking boats to talking mannequins, ROJAK! is dark, gooey and pedas as we Malaysians like it. Every serving includes a generous portion of nuts, on the house.

In detail its a compilation of shorts and monologues originally written put together into one big performance. Genres ranging from comedy, to tragic comedy to drama and even to political issues, which we'll leave it as the unmentionables for now... As our objective is to make theatre more accessible to youth, I personally believe that TOS is a great hub for young aspiring thespians to come forward to express themselves. Rather than having one big play where there will only be 1 to 3 main characters, having multiple shorts will create an opportunity for everybody. Even aspiring writers.

The Oral Stage, a non-profit group of theatre-curious youth, who direct, produce and star in our own written plays. Immersing ourselves in theatre experience without lifejackets, hoping to come out alive learning a thing or two. Currently in our second season, TOS strives to make theatre more accessible to the public, mainly young people, through stage performances and community involvement.

Directed by Kelvin K. Wong and Patricia Low, produced by Reuben W.J Kang. Cast ensemble includes Sharmini Harikrishnan, Dominic L. Luk, Rauf Fadzilla, Lam Wai Yee, Sanjiv Gnaneswaran, Krystle Wong, Priya Kulasagaran, Rachel Lai, Azfar Baharudin, Prakash Daniel, Reuben W.J Kang, Branavan Aruljothi and Emily Yoon.

I love all types of rojak; mamak rojak, indian rojak, rojak petis, rojak mee but I must rate this Rojak play a 4-star out of 5. Caught the show on Friday night will an almost full-house audience. Good show by a bunch of amateurs. Another Instant Cafe group in the making!
